Introduction
Grand Towers Limited is an investment holding company with a broad range of interests in banking, Pension, fintech, finmarket, hospitality and real estate. It has an administrative team based in Lagos and Abuja with the mandate to oversee and manage its operational activities. GTL has a Board of Directors which meets every quarter to review the performance of the company and provide guidance to management. The Board has a number of committees that interface with management. These are the Investment Committee, the Audit Committee and the Governance Committees. Grand Towers seeks the services of a Senior Investment Officer to support the review and recommendation of approaches to management of GTLs portfolio.
The preferred candidate should have a BSc in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related area. A masters in the aforementioned areas would be an advantage but not a requirement. At least 5-10 years post NYSC experience, preferably with a stockbroking firm, investment bank, financial institution or an investment entity. Affiliation with the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers as an associate would be preferred. The SIO will periodically review GTLs portfolio relative to the sectors it has exposure to and provide guidance to the management as needed. This ToR outlines the activities that are expected in this role.
Scope of Responsibilities
Portfolio Reviews – GTLs portfolio is in listed and unlisted assets requiring approaches to management that reflect the nature and conditions of those assets. The SIO would need to be familiar with the conditions of the markets and provide reports to the management using key metrics, price earnings ratios, dividend yields, price to book values or any other metrics that can determine a direction that enhances the value of the portfolio.
Market Reviews – changes in the public markets can impact the performance of the portfolio as well as changes in the economy, additional affecting the unlisted portion of the portfolio. The SIO should be able to use data driven tools and reports (public and private) to be able to present updates to management on the implications of changes in these tools or what the reports suggest for the portfolio.
Quarterly Presentations – GTLs full board and its investment committee rely on the reports provided by the SIO to guide decision making regarding the portfolio. The SIO will prepare material each quarter on the status of the portfolio, laying emphasis to new opportunities. These reports will be reviewed by the Board Investment Committee and used to guide management and the full board on appropriate steps to take.
Monthly Reports – Monthly reports will be needed to ensure management is on top of changes that may affect portfolio value. The key metrics mentioned in the first paragraph of this section will be used to determine management’s actions.
Project Due Diligence – periodic visits to, unlisted projects or projects under construction, maybe needed to provide updates to management.
Tasks
1. Provision of recommendations to management on new investment positions to be taken by GTL.
2. Provision of reviews of GTLs income streams – capital gains, dividend payments, interest income and other.
3. Participation in management meetings to provide input based on operational issues that need resolution.
4. Application of GTLs investment manual in the processing of new requests for investments or changes in existing investments.
5. Preparation of strategies for management of the portfolio with updates to management and board on its implementation
The SIO will report to the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of Grand Towers Limited.
Output
1. Preparation of monthly and quarterly reports on the portfolio
2. Preparation of project or company specific reports that provide guidance to management and board on the condition of GTLs exposure.
